COVID-19 Bulletin (04/14/22)

The national public health emergency has been extended 90 days.

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins reported 212 new COVID-19 cases and six deaths on Wednesday.


HuffPost reports that health experts are warning COVID-19 cases may be undercounted as testing stalls. The new White House COVID-19 coordinator said other tools are being used to track the pandemic such as community-based surveys.


The Biden Administration has extended the national COVID-19 public health emergency for another 90 days. Republican lawmakers called on the administration to stop extending the emergency in February, however the new BA.2 virus is causing the nation to average more than 31,000 new cases a day, according to The New York Times.


According to Reuters, the US is extending transit mask mandate through May 3 amid COVID-19 uptick. Reuters reports that the new mask requirements are causing friction on airplanes, such as a record of 7,060 unruly passenger incidents reported, and 70% involved masking rules.
