200 police and fire-rescue workers in quarantine. CDC shortens booster timeline.

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins reported 2,422 new COVID-19 cases and 19 deaths in Dallas County on Tuesday.

Nearly 200 Dallas police and fire-rescue employees are quarantined because of COVID-19 and the omicron variant. More than 75 ercent of the infected first responders are Dallas Fire-Rescue workers, the Dallas Morning News reports.


The CDC recommended shortening the interval between Pfizer vaccinations and the booster shot from six months to five months, WFAA reports.  The organization also recommended that children ages 5 to 11 with weakened immune systems should a booster within 28 days of their second vaccination.


DFW Hospital Council President Steve Love reports that there are 2,516 patients with COVID-19 in the hospital, representing 18.34 percent of available bed capacity.
