Biden launches winter COVID-19 booster campaign amid omicron concerns, The Dallas Morning News reports. Biden’s new booster campaign to get 100 million eligible Americans a booster includes increased availability of shots and vaccines without major new restrictions. This plan requires insurers to cover the cost of at-home COVID tests and tightening testing requirements for people entering the U.S. regardless of vaccination status.


Texas unemployment claims hit a record low since the start of COVID, KERA reports. The U.S. Labor Department reports 10,000 first-time jobless claims in Texas a sharp fall to hitting another record low since the onset of the pandemic. This is a 38% drop from the lowest level reported since December 2019.


Texas’ ban on mask mandates in public schools is back, WFAA reports. A federal appellate court has temporarily restored Gov. Greg Abbott’s executive order prohibiting mask mandates in schools after a three-judge panel finds no “concrete, or actual or imminent, injury” caused by the ban. Disability Rights Texas has accused the state of violating the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act.


Emergency Housing Assistance available for Dallas County residents, WFAA reports. The EHA program is helping families who prove they have been financially impacted due to COVID-19 avoid eviction. During the week of November 19, 2,900 evictions were filed.
