Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins reported 569 new COVID-19 cases and 11 deaths in Dallas County on Wednesday.

FDA panel endorses Pfizer’s COVID-19 shot for children, the Dallas Morning News reports. On Tuesday 10/60, a Food and Drug Administration advisory panel unanimously voted with one abstention that Pfizer’s vaccine’s benefits in preventing COVID-19 in children five to 11 outweigh any potential risks. Risks considered included a heart-related side effect that’s been very rare in teens and young adults who get a much higher dose. The FDA is expected to make its own decision approving the vaccine within days.

Merck agrees to share their COVID-19 pill formula, WFAA reports. U.N. backed Medicines Patent Pool says it has signed a voluntary licensing agreement for molnupiravir with Merck and its partner, Ridgeback Biotherapeutics. This agreement allows Medicines Patent Pool to grant further licenses to qualified companies who are approved to make the drug. This is a decision aimed at helping poorer countries have access to the potentially life-saving drug.

North Texas pharmacists prepare to receive Pfizer kid-sized COVID vaccine, NBC DFW reports. Clinical pharmacist Dawn Moshier says pharmacists are ready and only waiting for the vaccine to come in. Moshier says “Don’t worry. Don’t rush. Don’t panic. You don’t have to be the first one in the door for it. You’re going to get the vaccine. There is plenty of vaccine coming out for these children.”
