FDA and the CDC approved Pfizer booster for high-risk populations, NPR reports. High-risk populations include individuals 65 years and older, individuals 18-64 at high risk of severe COVID-19, and individuals 18-64 whose job or institutional exposure puts them at high risk of COVID-19. North Texas doctor says clinical trials on new COVID-19 treatments show positive results, WFAA reports. Dr. Haresh Boghara with Epic Medical Research Pfizer is studying potential COVID-19 treatment drugs, including the Pfizer pill. Clinical trials are seeing the benefits of combining the Pfizer pill with Ritonavir, an existing antiviral drug.


Texas’ rate of COVID-19 shots administered has slowed, Texas Tribune reports. 83 percent of Texas are currently eligible for a vaccine and 50 percent of Texans are fully vaccinated. Texas Tribune reports the lagging of vaccination rates as related to mistrust in the government and healthcare system by demographics.
