Dallas County Judge enacts mask mandate in schools, businesses, and government buildings.

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins reports 1,350 new COVID-19 sases and six deaths on Wednesday. Due to internal reporting issues, 500 of these cases are from the last three weeks.


There are 2,512 COVID-19 patients in North Texas hospitals, representing 17.09 percent of bed capacity and 39.28 percent of adult ICU patients, Steve Love of the DFW Hospital Council reports.


Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins signed a new executive order requiring masks in schools, businesses and county buildings. A judge’s ruling on Tuesday paved the way for Jenkins to require face coverings despite a ban on mask mandates by Gov. Greg Abbott. The order will take effect at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has released new data on the safety of the COVID-19 vaccines in pregnant people, KERA reports. The CDC is urging all pregnant people, people thinking about becoming pregnant, and those breastfeeding to get vaccinated against COVID-19. The agency says doctors have seen the number of pregnant people infected with COVID-19 rise in the past several weeks.
