COVID-19 Bulletin (06/22/21)

Restaurants are coming back after COVID-19. Unemployment rate hasn't moved much, despite the end of restrictions.

Over Sunday and Monday, Dallas County reported 106 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths, according to County Judge Clay Jenkins.


At least five Dallas Fort- Worth restaurants that have been closed for the course of the pandemic have plans to reopen soon. Nafees Alam, CEO and co-founder of DRG Concepts, which operates Dallas Chop House, Wild Salsa, Wicked Butcher and others, says he’s kept some of his restaurant’s closed due to a loss of employees and financial stress. But he plans to reopen many of his restaurants with renovated dining rooms, new menus and a fresh outlook after a tough year, the Dallas Morning News reports.


The Texas unemployment rate has barely changed since last month, KERA reports. The Texas Workforce Commission released data about May unemployment Friday. Unemployment has gone slightly down from 6.7 percent in April to 6.5 percent in May.


North Texas Area Community Health Centers (NTACHC) is offering free Pfizer COVID-19 vaccinations at the Arlington Community Health Center on Saturday, June 26 from 8 a.m. to noon. The Arlington Center is located at 979 N. Cooper St. Arlington, TX 76011.
