Five Texas Health hospitals recognized for top care by CMS, Amazon has on-site vaccinations for employees, and more.

Five Texas Health Resources hospitals received five stars on Hospital Compare, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) website, with another six hospitals earning four stars. The ratings are created based on patient perspectives and how the hospital handles common conditions like heart attacks and pneumonia, and is compared to hospitals around the nation. The THR hospitals that received five stars were Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Stephenville, Texas Health Heart & Vascular Arlington, Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South, and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall.


Amazon has expanded its on-site employee vaccination program in Texas. There are more than 20 operations facilities across the state that are hosting vaccination events, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio. Amazon front-line employees have the opportunity to receive a voluntary on-site vaccination throughout the month. 


Allied Bioscience, the makers of a residual antiviral surface coating that protects against COVID-19 and other contaminants, has received an early stage investment in its Series C Preferred Stock from Midwestern private equity firm Capital7. Global demand has increased for the product, and the company plans to expand its product line.


Healthcare advocate the Lasker Foundation has recognized Nobel Laureates Dr. Joseph Goldstein and Dr. Michael Brown of University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center for their work combatting heart disease. Read more here.


Caris Life Sciences has added the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center – Jefferson Health (SKCC) to the company’s Precision Oncology Alliance, which is now a group of 50 top cancer centers and academic institutions around the world that work together to profile cancer and improve molecular testing. SKCC serves patients in the Philadelphia area.
