Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins reported 1,698 new cases and 22 deaths. “These are encouraging trends and I hope these numbers continue to go down. We received another 9,000 doses of vaccine this week and vaccinated thousands more at Fair Park today,” he tweeted.

Due to coronavirus concerns, Gov. Greg Abbot is set to forego a large crowd and deliver his state of the state speech on live television, from a small business in Austin according to a report from Dallas Morning News. Abbott will give his speech Feb.1 as part of a longer 1-hour program produced and broadcast by Irving-based Nexstar Media Group Inc.

ICU’s are completely full in at least 50 Texas hospitals, the Texas Tribune reports. Dozens of facilities have reported that their ICUs have been at or above 100% capacity for weeks due to the post-holiday surge.

There will be a slight decrease in vaccine doses arriving to the state this week, reports WFAA. Dallas County will get 42,325 first doses across all providers, Tarrant County will receive 26,050, Collin County will get 10,600 and Denton County will be shipped 10,250. In total, 332,750 first doses will make it to Texas, compared to 333,650 last week.
