Dallas County reported 3,303 new cases over the holiday weekend as North Texas hospitals surge beyond capacity.

Dallas County reported 3,303 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend, which included totals from Thursday through Sunday due to the Thanksgiving holiday. There were also six additional deaths, according to County Judge Clay Jenkins.


Hospitals in Rockwall and Palo Pinto have surpassed their capacity over the weekend as COVID-19 cases have risen. Patients are having to be transferred to other hospitals, and cases are remaining high and may increase over the weekend, worrying hospital leaders. KERA has more.


Statewide, there are 8,500 hospitalizations due to COVID-19, though average new cases and average daily deaths are decreasing. The Texas Tribune has more.


There has been a threefold increase in school-related COVID-19 cases since the beginning of October, WFAA reports. Long term care facilities are also experiencing their highest infection rates since the beginning of the pandemic.
