Texas Health Resources has released its annual Social Purpose Report that describes the health system’s impact on their employees work environment and the community at large.

This year, Texas Health launched Hospital2Home, a free service that provides emergency department patients with a doctor for seven days after they visit the hospital to discuss concerns, follow-up care, and questions. The organization also enabled patients to choose their payment plan and consolidate invoices for services performed at wholly-owned locations to help reduce the stress of paying for care.

The health system provided about $877 million in charity care and awarded $5.2 million in Texas Health Community Impact grants which will address social determinants of health and establish new programs directed to seniors living alone, as well as youth experiencing trauma-related behavioral health issues.

Other moves include opening Texas Health Frisco and expanding facilities in Denton, Fort Worth, Allen, Mansfield, and North Fort Worth and implementing policies encouraging sustainable community health improvement.

Fortune and Great Places to Work recognized Texas Health for being among the 100 Best Companies to Work For, Best Workplaces for Diversity, Best Workplaces for Women, and Best Workplaces for Millennials.

“Texas Health continues to invest in resources, services and sustainable business practices that enable us to improve community health, deliver highly reliable care and optimize the consumer experience,” David Tesmer, Texas Health’s chief community and public policy officer, said in a press release. “Our commitment to excellence and transparency is essential to our long-term success.”
