Irving-based drug distribution company McKesson Corp. has appointed Tom Rodgers the executive vice president and chief strategy and business development officer. Bansi Nagji stepped down from the role effective March 31, but he remained with the company for several weeks to help during the transitional period while it named his successor.

“McKesson has a long history of evolving our company in meaningful ways that enable us to lead in a rapidly changing healthcare environment,” CEO of McKesson Brian Tyler said via release.

From December 2001 to November 2004, Rodgers served as McKesson’s VP of corporate strategy and business development. He most recently worked for McKesson’s strategic venture capital firm, McKesson Ventures, serving as their senior VP and managing director. The San Francisco Bay Area-based company named Dave Schulte to succeed him.

“Tom’s experience in both venture capital and large healthcare environments, will be extremely valuable to our leadership team as we continue to strengthen our core business and transform our company to create new opportunities to deliver future growth,” Tyler said.
