Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins has written a letter to Governor Greg Abbott requesting that the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order be put back in place in the face of rising positive cases and hospitalizations. The letter also asks for universal social distancing across the state, to reduce indoor gatherings to just 10, and more.
Dallas County added more than 1,100 new cases over the weekend, and hospitalizations have doubled during the month of June. KERA has more.

After a bipartisan group of lawmakers lobbied on behalf of Texas, the federal government agreed to extend funding for the testing sites that were scheduled to shut down at the end of June. This includes the two sites in Dallas County, which now have two more weeks to operate, The Texas Tribune reports.
