Texas Health and DispatchHealth Expand House Calls to Fort Worth

|

The collaboration between home healthcare provider DispatchHealth and Texas Health Resources is expanding its to Fort Worth residents.

Patients will be able to access to a medical team from DispatchHealth via app, phone call, or website. Providers usually arrive at a home or senior living facility within two hours of the request, and the service can also be referred by Texas Health Physicians Group. The team is made of a physician assistant or nurse practitioner and a medical technician, can treat fall injuries, dehydration, and other conditions and can perform tests, an EKG and administer IV fluids. The service includes a report made to the patient’s primary care physician, living community, or home health agency.

“This mobile medical care service provides our patients with easy access to quality medical care in the most convenient setting possible,” said Winjie Miao, senior executive vice president and chief experience officer at Texas Health Resources via release. “Our patients and their families are especially happy with this affordable option as it prevents unnecessary travel to and from an outpatient center or hospital emergency room.”

The service should not be used in emergency situations, but could avoid costly and unnecessary emergency room visits for non-emergent situations. Since its launch with Texas Health one year ago, DispatchHealth has made 3,584 visits, saving 80-90 percent compared to emergency room visits.

“We want to make quality medical care as accessible as possible but also affordable and centered around the needs of the patient,” said Dr. Mark Prather, CEO of DispatchHealth via release. “In our continued collaboration with Texas Health Resources, we’re able to expand access to convenient care that’s an economical option for residents in the Dallas and Fort Worth regions.”
