In North Texas, 23 hospitals have received the Magnet Recognition, which awards health care organizations that value nursing talent. The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program has honored 502 facilities with high standards for nursing excellence out of the 6,300 that were eligible.
Higher nursing standards result in greater patient satisfaction, lower mortality risk, higher job satisfaction among nurses, and higher nurse retention. The Magnet Recognition Program can help organizations guide nursing practice, research, and measurement of outcomes and analyzes nursing leadership, coordination and collaboration across specialties, processes for improving the delivery of care. Organizations must reapply every four years.
Just this month, AMN released a study documenting the increasing struggles of the nursing profession, which are coming to a head with the retirements of the Baby Boomer nurses just as demand for nursing is increasing. Many nurses are working second jobs, and flexibility, work-life balance, and not feeling like they have enough time with patients are all part of what is making things difficult. But maintaining high standards seems to be a way to combat some of those issues.

It is this commitment to providing our community with high-quality care that helped us become a Magnet-recognized organization and it is why we continue to pursue and maintain Magnet recognition.”
