Saum Sutaria will be promoted from Chief Operating Officer of Tenet Healthcare Corp. to President and COO, where he will continue to run Hospital Operations while assuming responsibility for United Surgical Partners International and Conifer Health Solutions, which is becoming its own publicly traded company.

“This promotion of Saum reflects my tremendous confidence in his leadership,” said CEO Ron Rittenmeyer via release. “Since joining the company as COO, Saum has demonstrated superb business judgment and greatly contributed to the improvements in our financial results over the last few quarters.”

Sutaria joined Tenet in January 2019 as COO, and previously worked for McKinsey & Company for 18 years, where he led the healthcare and private equity practices.

Tenet has seen a good amount of leadership turnover since Rittenmeyer took the helm a couple years ago, and the company has sold or divested from numerous facilities in England and around the country as it focuses on more profitable sectors of the business. The company begin moving out of downtown later this year and into Farmers Branch offices in an effort to save on the bottom line.

“There is no doubt in my mind about the opportunities we have ahead of us – both as a business and as a critical pathway along the healthcare journeys of the individuals and families we serve,” said Sutaria via release. “I am honored to take on this expanded role and look forward to working together with Ron and teams across the enterprise to continue our transformation.”
