CVS Heath’s MinuteClinic has arrived in Texas. Patients can use their mobile device or computer to see a provider at any time for minor illnesses, injuries, skin conditions and other needs through virtual visits.

The pharmacy and retail giant is adding telemedicine to its retail medical clinics in Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma as well.

For patients who chose to receive a telehealth visit during the program’s pilot phase, 95 percent were highly satisfied  with the convenience and care according to a CVS Health study. The pilot launched in August of last year in a partnership with Teladoc, conducting thousands of visits – more than half outside of clinic hours.

Patients aged two years or older can seek treatment via the virtual visits, which include a questionnaire and pairing with a board-certified provider for the visit, which may result in a treatment plan or prescription. Visits are not yet covered by insurance and cost $59, though insurance coverage will be added in the next few months. The service is available in 26 states.

“We’re excited to continue to expand the availability of MinuteClinic Video Visits across eight additional states as we continue to build our national practice for this service,” said Sharon Vitti, President, MinuteClinic via release. “The expansion of this MinuteClinic service enables us to provide even more people with access to an innovative, on-demand health care option and demonstrates our commitment to delivering high-quality care when and where our patients need it, at prices they can afford.”
