Three Retirements at Christus Health Prior to Leadership Shake Up

Three of Christus Health’s top leaders are set to retire in the next few months, and the organization is announcing a restructured leadership team.

The Catholic nonprofit health system will lose Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Linda McClung, Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer Dr. John Gillean, and Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer George Conklin in coming months.

The three departing leaders combined for more than 75 years of experience at Christus, with McClung serving in various roles for 33 years, Gillean for 24 years, and Conklin for more than 20 years. McClung’s last day will be August 31. Gillean will retire on October 31, and Conklin will finish up on December 31.

“Each has a rich legacy at CHRISTUS and each has left an indelible positive mark on our ministry,” said Ernie Sadau, CHRISTUS Health President and CEO via release. “While we wish them well in this next phase of life, each will be missed, as their leadership and dedication has positioned us to be even stronger tomorrow for the continued fulfillment of our mission.”

New leadership will include the following employees in vice president roles who will report to Christus’ CEO and president.

Leadership changes will take place on July 31, and include the following.

  • Gerry Heeley,  Executive Vice President and Chief Mission Integration Officer.
  • Marty Margetts, Executive Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer
  • Jeff Puckett, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer
  • Randy Safady, Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
  • Sam Bagchi, M.D., Executive Vice President & Chief Clinical Officer
  • Paul Generale, Executive Vice President & Chief Strategy & Network Officer

Other internal candidates were named as Senior Vice Presidents, will report to other CEO Cabinet Members and will be on the Christus Health Executive Council.

  • Jon Manis, Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer of U.S. ministries.
  •  Tina Barker, Senior Vice President of Strategy, Marketing and Digital
  • Kimberly King Webb, Senior Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer
  • Kim Reynolds, Senior Vice President of Finance
  • Gabriela Saenz, Senior Vice President of Corporate Services
  • Ryan Thompson, Senior Vice President of Revenue Cycle
