Sundance Hospitals Acquired by Georgia’s Perimeter Healthcare

|

Atlanta-based Perimeter Healthcare acquired the former Sundance Behavioral & Mental Health Hospitals in Garland and Arlington earlier this year. The two 116-bed inpatient psychiatric hospitals will open as Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Arlington and Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Dallas to provide care for those who need acute mental and behavioral healthcare later this year.

The two facilities are undergoing extensive renovations, as Perimeter seeks to make its mark on the North Texas Behavioral Health Market. The pediatric facilities will include space for yoga, play, and equine therapy.

The opening of the hospitals will help alleviate the stress on the mental health system in North Texas, which has seen several closures over the past few years. At John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, the emergency department has been on and off code yellow over the past couple months due to higher than average demand for behavioral healthcare.

Perimeter has 11 facilities with 700 beds across six states in the south with inpatient and outpatient services. These will be the first two facilities in Texas. The website describes the Garland location as one that will have acute inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient services for children ages five to 12. The Arlington location will offer the same services for five to 17.

“Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Arlington and Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Dallas will serve as the gold standard for inpatient psychiatric care in the Dallas Fort-Worth community,” said Rod Laughlin, President and CEO of Perimeter Healthcare, via release. “We look forward to working with families and other community stakeholders to deliver exceptional clinical outcomes and transform the lives of those who come through these facilities.”

Perimeter has made three other acquisitions in the past several months, acquiring hospitals in Missouri and Louisiana with the help of Ridgemont Equity Partners, a Charlotte-based middle market buyout and growth equity investor that focuses on industrial services, energy, healthcare and technology.

“The Perimeter team has been successful in delivering exceptional behavioral health services across its existing facilities,” said Scott Poole, Partner at Ridgemont via release. “The Springfield, New Orleans and Dallas Fort-Worth acquisitions are a testament to this success and provide meaningful opportunity for Perimeter to expand its best-in-class mental health programs.”
