New Chief Oncology Officer at Baylor Scott and White

Dr. Ronan Kelly will be Baylor Scott and White Health’s North Texas chief of oncology. He  will also be the medical director of Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center – Dallas.

In addition to traditional cancer treatment in nearly every cancer sub-type, the medical center offers a holistic approach to treating canter including psychological support, personalized rehabilitation programs, dietary consulting, arts, and music therapy.

“After an extensive national search, Dr. Kelly stood out as the candidate to help anchor the future of cancer care at Baylor Scott & White Health in North Texas as well as across the state,” said Dr. Irving Prengler, chief medical officer of Baylor Scott & White Health’s North Texas division, via release. “His experience leading international clinical trials and continued commitment to improving the quality and value of care for all cancer patients, matched with an unbridled focus on the benefits of immunotherapy treatment made him the clear choice to be a trusted leader within our system.”

“As one of the largest cancer treatment centers in the nation, Baylor University Medical Center, a part of Baylor Scott & White Health, will continue to have a huge role in the war against cancer,” Kelly said via release. “Large health systems treating huge volumes of patients are needed if we are to continue the incredible advances that have been made in the treatment of cancer over the last few years.”

Kelly was previously the director of Gastroesophageal Cancer Therapeutics Program and medical director of Global Oncology Johns Hopkins International at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.  He is also the co-chair of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) taskforce, which works to improve care for lung cancer patients. He has authored and co-authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and healthcare journal articles.
