Medical City’s Cardiovascular ICU honored by Nurses Association

|

The Medical City Dallas Cardiovascular ICU has been honored with the silver Beacon Award for Excellence by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.

The award recognizes units that improve patient outcomes and align with AACN’s Healthy Work Environment Standards. The unit showed excellence, in leadership structures and systems, appropriate staffing and staff engagement, effective communication, evidence-based practice and processes, and outcome measurement.

The hospital is opening a specialized heart and spine hospital later this year in a vacant building on its campus.

“The Beacon Award for Excellence recognizes caregivers in stellar units whose consistent and systematic approach to evidence-based care optimizes patient outcomes,” says AACN President Lisa Riggs, via release. “Units that receive this national recognition serve as role models to others on their journey to excellent patient and family care.”
