2018 Healthcare Job Gains Up From Last Year

The latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows growth in the healthcare market nationwide. Total non-farm payroll employment went up 312,000 in December, with gains in health care, food services and drinking places, construction, manufacturing, and retail trade.

In the healthcare field, 50,000 jobs were added in December. Ambulatory health care services added 38,000 workers, and hospital employees increased by 7,000. The Dallas-Fort Worth healthcare market seems to be the leading edge of these gains, with new hospital construction popping up all over the region. This year has seen numerous healthcare expansions and construction projects.

For the year, healthcare added 346,000 jobs this year. Last year, the country added 284,000 healthcare jobs. See the entire report here.
