Parkland Wins Five Axis Awards from the Association for Talent Development

|

Parkland Health & Hospital System recently won five Axis awards for the ability to develop it’s workforce from the Association for Talent Development, an organization that promotes workplace learning and performance.

The system’s Office of Talent Management won four first place awards in talent assessment/succession planning, strategic planning, talent mobility and leadership development, and a placed second in diversity and inclusion. For leadership development, Parkland placed first amongst more than 1,800 submissions.

The office created and implemented a succession planning and talent review process for more than 1,000 leaders throughout the system, collaborated with chief executives to align the strategic plan with its purpose and identify stakeholders, success criteria and deliverables. In the world of talent mobility, they created the Rise to Success program to provide opportunities in the health care field for high school graduates from low-income areas. Training can lead to a part-time position and can enroll in a healthcare focused program in Dallas County Community Colleges.

“The program has demonstrated some significant results including an increase in retention of PCAs by almost 200 percent, which has dramatically reduced the number of job vacancies and allowed the team to focus on sustainably growing to meet the region’s future healthcare needs,” Mary Andereck, Parkland’s Interim Chief Learning Officer, said via release.

A leadership development team was created to build a structured plan for identified leaders, which supported the strategic plan and addressed gaps in the employment engagement survey.

“Parkland is committed not only to hiring and training a skilled workforce, but also to developing future leaders, planning for succession and offering opportunities for growth within the organization,” said Corey D. Jackson, Parkland’s Executive Vice President and Chief Talent Officer via release. “The Axis awards recognize the efforts of our Human Resources team to help the system implement Parkland’s strategic plan by focusing on talent development, succession planning, retention and diversity and inclusion.”
