|

Five North Texas Hospitals made the Leapfrog Group’s list of Top Hospitals for safety and quality. Children’s Medical Center Dallas, Children’s Medical Center Plano, Medical City Denton, Methodist Charlton Medical Center, and Methodist Richardson Medical Center all made this year’s list.

Leapfrog is a national watchdog organization that evaluates hospitals on patient care and safety. They recognized 118 hospitals children’s, general, teaching, and rural hospitals across the country. Hospitals report their performance through Leapfrog’s survey, which evaluates infection rates, maternity care, medication errors and other criteria.

DFW Business Group on Health, a nonprofit representing employer purchases of healthcare, is Leapfrog Group’s Regional Leader for North Texas.

“DFWBGH has been advocating improvements in patient safety and health care quality since 2001 when we first brought the Leapfrog Group’s publicly reported patient safety measures to the attention of local hospitals,” said Marianne Fazen, DFWBGH executive director via release. “We’re proud of these five hospitals in our region that went the extra mile to achieve Leapfrog Group’s Top Hospital rating this year and encourage all other area hospitals to demonstrate the same commitment to patient safety and quality care.”

“Leapfrog Top Hospitals have demonstrated excellence in providing safe and high quality care,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group via release. “We congratulate the leadership, boards, clinicians, staff and volunteers whose dedication contributed to their hospital’s success.”
