Fort Worth Company Will Provide Free Eye Health Screenings At The State Fair

|

The Alcon Foundation will use the Texas State Fair to try to educate the community on eye health. The company will offer free eye health screenings to the first 350 people that stop by its tent.

The promotion will run on World Sight Day—Oct. 11. That happens to be Senior’s Day at the fair, as well, which fits because about 50 percent of avoidable blindness comes from cataracts caused by advanced aging, Alcon says. The company says about 80 percent of vision impairment can be prevented.

Fort Worth-based Alcon develops and manufactures medicine and devices associated with eye care.
