Methodist Charlton Becomes First Designated Trauma Center in Southern Dallas

|

Southern Dallas has its first trauma center. The Texas Department of State Health Services has designated Methodist Charlton a Level III Advanced Trauma Facility.

Methodist Charlton is located on Wheatland Road near Highway 67, about 10 miles southwest of downtown.

Trauma center levels refer to the resources and personnel at a hospital, denoting their readiness to handle things like serious falls, traumatic car crashes, and gunshot wounds. Level I is the highest designation a hospital can receive.

“This designation brings an increased focus on trauma care,” says Dr. Jeffrey Butterfield, medical director of the emergency department.  “These designations are not handed out. They are earned.  We are proud of our outstanding trauma team for earning this.”
