The Texas Department of State Health Services has designated Children’s Medical Center Plano as a Level IV trauma center, Children’s Health said on Wednesday.
To earn the designation, the hospital had to show that it provides resuscitation, stabilization, and assessment of injury victims, and that it provides the necessary treatment or arranges for transfer from there.
Children’s health is the eighth-largest pediatric healthcare provider in the U.S.
“Our designation as a Level IV trauma center is a major milestone for Children’s Health and the North Texas community as it demonstrates our ability and commitment to providing crucial, complex emergency services to children in need,” says Lori Vinson, senior director of trauma, disaster preparedness, business continuity, and emergency services programs at Children’s Health in Dallas and Plano.
