The Sanders Trust has opened an office in Dallas, as the large, Birmingham, Alabama-based healthcare real estate investor moves itself closer to booming growth in Dallas-Fort Worth and positions itself for more activity in Texas.
The company has hired Michael Arvin, a former healthcare executive who served stints at Methodist Health System and Tenet Healthcare, to lead the office.
The Sanders Trust has already developed a few assets in North Texas, including the Texas Rehabilitation Hospital of Arlington, an inpatient rehab facility affiliated with Texas Health Resources. It also did a medical office building for Lake Granbury Medical Center. Since it opened in 1989, Sanders has developed or acquired more than $1 billion in healthcare properties across the country.
“The point of adding this office is we’re spending more and more time here, Texas is booming, and we want to do more and more business within the state,” Senior Vice President Steve Hewett tells me. It’s the first office within the Lone State State for Sanders, although the firm also has developments in Houston and Austin. “Having a full-time presence in Dallas is something we feel is absolutely necessary,” Hewett says.
He adds that Arvin provides a strategy-minded leader that can help time-strapped executives plan their investments. Arvin was a senior vice president and chief development officer with Methodist from 2007 to 2011 before starting his own advisory firm.
