After fast-tracking plans for an $85 million expansion in June of 2017, Methodist Richardson Medical Center unveiled plans for several additional components to an ongoing construction project this week.
In addition to the previously announced plans for two patient floors with 150 private patient rooms, a third cardiac catheterization lab, a new surgical operating room, and a 500-space parking garage, Methodist will create two post-anesthesia care beds and seven pre-op rooms. Construction on the parking garage began in January with an updated blueprint that includes 671 spaces, compared to the original design’s 500.
Methodist has completed two portions of the expansion—the new cardiac catheterization lab and the center’s ninth surgical operating room.
Methodist Richardson is expanding its facilities in response to growing population in the surrounding areas, the hospital says. The project is expected to be completed in 18 months, with Richardson-based Skiles Group performing general contracting duties.
