The TCU and UNT Health Science Center School of Medicine has named Dr. Danika Franks as its first assistant dean of students.

In this role, she is responsible for maintaining the availability of support services for student physicians. Franks will also develop a career advising program that will grow with the students as they progress through their medical education.

Franks most recently served as an emergency medicine physician at Texas Health Resources facilities. She provided care in a variety of environments, from small-town emergency departments to 151-bed hospitals.

Dr. Stuart Flynn, founding dean of TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine, said in a statement: “The School of Medicine is so fortunate to have Dr. Franks as our inaugural [assistant] dean of students. In addition to her impressive professional background, her passion for mentoring and empowering young people as they make their way through the challenges medical school brings will make her an excellent resource for our students. Her insight and guidance will directly contribute to the development of extraordinary physicians.”

Franks earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Midwestern State University and her medical degree from UT Southwestern.
