Texas Health Presbyterian Allen has named a new president, promoting a THR employee who’s worked his way up through the system since interning there in 2007.

The Allen American reports that Jared Shelton will take over as the hospital’s head beginning January 10. He’s been with Presbyterian Dallas since May, when he was named vice president of Professional and Support Services. That put him in charge of all the hospital’s ancillary departments, from pharmacy and radiology to food and nutrition services.

At Presby, he oversaw a $30 million expansion of the primary operating room and launched an accountable care model for the cardiac program. During his time there, the newspaper says the hospital got a new robotic catheterization lab and expanded its heart failure program.

According to Shelton’s LinkedIn, he joined Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Denton as an intern in 2007 and stayed in-house with the Arlington-based system. He served as an administrative resident and an administrative fellow before getting the gig in Dallas.
