North Hills Hospital has selected a new CEO to take over after its longtime leader’s departure late last year.

The HCA North Texas hospital launched a national search to replace Randy Moresi, the man who led the North Richland Hills facility for 25 years. Xavier Villarreal took over this week, leaving his previous post as chief operating officer for the CHRISTUS-owned Spohn Shoreline and Memorial Hospitals in Corpus Christi. Prior to his time there, he spent nearly seven years as CEO of the 162-bed Navarro Regional Hospital in Corsicana.

“Xavier is known for his focus on patient, physician, and employee engagement and fiscal responsibility,” said HCA North Texas President Erol Akdamar.

He also spent time as CEO of the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center, an 84-bed acute care facility near the Arkansas border. Villarreal was also chief operating officer for about three years at Abilene Regional Medical Center. With 164 beds, North Hills Hospital scrapes by Navarro Regional as the largest facility he’s led.

Villarreal is a Texas A&M University undergraduate and received a masters in Healthcare Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio. He’s also a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a board member of the Texas Hospital Association.

“I’m looking forward to being part of the North Hills Hospital family,” Villarreal said. “I have felt welcomed during the interview process and my family and I are looking forward to making North Richland Hills our home. I am excited to lead and continue to build on the past successes of North Hills Hospital.”
