Methodist Health System on Thursday began seeing patients at the Amon G. Carter Foundation Heart and Vascular Center as well as its new care tower.

Methodist spokeswoman Angel Biasatti said more than 400 attended the grand opening ceremony. The 208,000 square foot, 118-bed expansion opened with 86 more patient rooms. Cardiac patients will now have access to ablations, loop recorders, implantable defibrillators, and single or dual chamber pacemakers.

The original hospital opened in 2006 as an 88-bed community facility. It was Methodist’s first foray into Tarrant County. It’s since grown into a 254-bed hospital that serves nearly 100,000 patients in Tarrant, Johnson, and Ellis counties. The new additions will employ about 200 medical professionals.
