Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall Opens New Sleep Center

The facility will open with two sleep rooms and plans to add more in the future.

Texas Health Presbyterian’s newest facility, Sleep Specialties of Rockwall, will open at 2265 North Lakeshore Drive next door to the North Rockwall ER on October 1, bringing a diagnostic sleep lab to residents of the area. The facility will open with two sleep rooms and plans to add more in the future.

THR says that sleep disorders, from snoring and insomnia to sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome, affect some 70 million people. A key symptom of the disorders is “brain fog,” or confusion that results in people waking up not feeling refreshed or experiencing daytime drowsiness. Undiagnosed sleep disorders can negatively affect overall health, and sleep depravation has been linked to cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death in Texas. Sleep disorders can also be symptoms of more serious medical conditions.

The new facility in Rockwall will welcome patients into rooms designed to look and feel like traditional bedrooms, but use embedded technology to observe sleep patterns. It will be staffed with specialists to monitor patients during sleep appointments and record statistics such as heart rate and oxygen saturation while making note of any sleep disturbances. These reports will be sent to a neurologist board, which will evaluate and assign appropriate follow-up treatment.
