This Dallas Spa Offers a ‘Flu Recovery Facial’

Help your skin bounce back from sickness.

Despite our affinity for Purell and our never-ending stash of Emergen-C, the D Magazine staff did not survive flu season unscathed. Those of us unlucky enough to have contracted the virus know all too well the havoc it wreaks, from dry, dull skin to sunken eyes to facial swelling, all symptoms that were seemingly immune to even the best home beauty remedies.

Enter esthetician Thai Morrison, founder of Dallas-based Koffee Day Spa and beauty lines Kanvas Skin Care and Kanvas md. Morrison recently announced the inception of a flu recovery facial that can help you fight all of the above. Dallasites can pick up the products to treat themselves at home, but after battling one of the most intense flu season in history, you deserve an in-spa experience.

The process starts with a hydrating oil wash. Next, a cleansing scrub exfoliates dead skin cells, followed by a healing water that soothes stressed skin. A deep mask is then applied to reduce facial puffiness and keep skin supple. Finally, an eye treatment helps nix dark, swollen under eyes. Does it work? Morrison tried it on herself after her own bout of the flu. “I was able to return to work with revived, glowing skin,” she says.

Koffee Day Spa presents its services as an “affordable luxury,” and indeed the downtown boutique spa is more accessible than most. Membership perks include a monthly massage or facial and discounts on all products and services. D Magazine has even named the spa “Best Ethnic Beauty Expert” for its commitment to skincare for all ethnicities and skin types. And at $79.99, we’d say the Flu Facial is an indulgence worth its price tag.
