After a holiday season full of chocolate, baked goods, and alcohol, you’re probably coming into January with tighter pants. Stay true to your resolutions and kick off 2017 right with these seven fitness events. Whether it’s sun salutations paired with beer or running miles and dancing Zumba, there’s a variety of ways to get—and stay—fit this year.
Head over to Athleta for an acroyoga class, which combines yoga and acrobatics for an innovative and fun workout. Bring along a water bottle and yoga mat, and enter the raffle to win a pair of Powervita capris.
Shack Track & Field
Shake Shack is kicking off 2017 with a bang with the launch of its new community fun run series. The second Tuesday of every month, join in the 2.5-mile run along the Katy Trail. After each run, your first drink at Shake Shack is free. If you show up on January 10, expect Shake Shack swag and giveaways.
Yoga at Community Beer Co.
A morning yoga class followed by craft beer … is there anything better? Make your way over to Community Beer Company where CubeFit Yoga will teach a class, followed by a complimentary pint and a behind-the-scenes brewery tour. Tickets are $15.

MLK Day & Dream XIV 5K/1 Mile Run/Walk
Spend Martin Luther King Jr. Day running (or walking) through River Legacy Parks in Arlington. The net race proceeds will be donated to Arlington ISD’s Crow and Blanton elementary schools.
29th Annual Lake Benbrook Half Marathon & 5K
Lace up your running shoes for the 29th Annual Lake Benbrook Half Marathon & 5K, which loops around the shores of the lake. If you’re suiting up for the half, be advised: the hills are infamous and the route is challenging, but it will be worth it. After the finish, enjoy chili and chips.
Zumba Class at Athleta
Every Saturday in January, Athleta is partnering with BodyXtreme Fitness for a free Zumba class. With a high-energy, Latin inspired workout, you’ll be sweating in no time.
Burn calories every Saturday morning with El Centro College’s free Tai Chi classes, full of centering exercise at Klyde Warren Park. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and gym shoes, and spend an hour improving your balance and general mental health. Top off your workout with the Saturday food trucks, which stay open until 3 p.m.
