Dallas Fitness Classes That Give Back

Talk about a feel-good activity.

If there’s one thing we avoid this time of the year, it’s the scale after a holiday meal. It’s simply too big a feat to find the inspiration to hit the gym when you’re bundled up (because the AC is on full blast to create the illusion of winter) and watching Netflix. This year, some of our favorite fitness studios are making it easier to muster up that motivation before or after your holiday indulgences. From spin classes to barre, these workshops are offering guests a unique chance to donate to local and national charities. Your muscles may ache after a killer sweat session, but at least your heart will be light, and if that’s not enough to get you in the holiday spirit, we don’t know what will.

Studio: VITAL Fitness Studio at The Joule
When: Saturday, November 19 | 11 a.m.
Charity: Young Texans Against Cancer

VITAL is offering a free 45-minute cycling class to put a “spin on giving” by donating $20 to the Young Texans Against Cancer for every bike that’s filled. All you have to do is register online, show up, and sweat it all out at the recently revampeddowntown studio.

Studio: Pure Barre
When: November 20 | class times vary
Charity: No Kid Hungry

This year, every Pure Barre location will be hosting a number of donation-based classes on November 20, with 100 percent of the profits going to Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign.

Studio: Bandier + Pure Barre Preston Hollow
When: November 20 | 10 a.m.
Charity: American Diabetes Association

This Sunday, Pure Barre is partnering with athletic boutique Bandier to bring you a barre session to benefit the American Diabetes Association with a $5 donation. RSVP at [email protected].

Studio: The Barre Code
When: December 3 | 12 p.m.
Charity: Toys for Tots

The Barre Code in the Design District is teaming up with Toys for Tots at the Texas Ale Project to deliver you a free 50-minute kickboxing and strengthening workout in exchange for a $15 toy donation. Spreading holiday cheer just might make those abs a little less sore.

Studio: The Yoga Factory
When: December 3
Charity: Dallas LIFE

Find peace of mind in more ways than one. The Yoga Factory will be accepting donations at both their Dallas and Plano locations all month long, but on December 3, the studios will host a special donations-based 108 Sun Salutations class. Acceptable donations include canned goods, clothing, and toiletries and will go towards Dallas LIFE, an organization that assists local families in need.

*Most classes require a Mindbody login before signing up.
