Running with goats, yoga handstands, and low muddy crawls will get you ready for swimsuit season in no time.

1. The Original Mud Run

If you like playing dirty, this run with muddy, military-style obstacles was made for you. You’ll face over 20 gorilla ropes, log walks, low crawls, tunnels, and more. Sign up for the 5K or 10K Fun Run to make some mud pies along the way, but if you’re all business, get your “boots and utes” (aka combat boots and utility trousers) ready for the Competition 10K. You can even show off your extreme fitness level on the new four-lane APEX Super Obstacle Course.

When: Saturday, April 4

  • 5k DGAP Fun Run – 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
  • 5K Dog Mud Run – 9:35 a.m.
  • Competition 10K – 10 a.m.
  • 10K Fun Run – 10:45 a.m.
  • Kid’s Mud Run (ages 12 and up) – 12 p.m.

2. Handstand Evolved 1.0

Believe it or not, the only prerequisite for this workshop is a heartbeat. Instructors Brian Johnson and Carter Twitty will teach specific exercises to help you build the impressive hand strength, wrist and shoulder mobility, and core control necessary to reach a safe handstand. Once you tackle the move, take it up a notch with new variations at Handstand 2.0 on April 25.

3. Girl’s Night Out Cardio Fitness Workshop

Forget cocktails! Grab a couple of friends and laugh yourselves silly at this high-energy cardio and strength class that targets the core and booty. Instructors Wendi Medling and Jennifer Cowley will pair electrifying music with fun, flirty dance moves. It’s sure to be a girl’s night out that you won’t forget.

4. Walk MS 

The more than 2.3 million people living with multiple sclerosis need your support. Your donated funds fuel the National MS Society’s mission to stop disease progression, restore function, and end MS. The walk takes place in the scenic Addison Circle Park.

5. Victory Over Violence Run

This run benefits victims of sexual assault, abuse, and other violent crimes to heal emotionally and resume productive lives. All proceeds from the event support The Women’s Center, an organization that counsels and provides employment and educational programs to 90,000 people annually.

6. The Freedom of Forgiveness: The Practice of Compassion

Dr. Melody Moore, Ph.D guides this class, which focuses as much on the mind as the body. This vinyasa flow yoga class features on- and off-the-mat methods for creating space and a new perspective.

7. The Goat Run

Ever wanted to run with goats? We thought so. This 5K and 10K run is immediately followed by a race between the top ten fundraising teams (yes, there will be live goats through this special course). Continue the fun by tearing up the bounce house and taking pics in the photo booth with your new furry friends. Matching team outfits are strongly encouraged.

8. Empower Fitness Celebration

Fitness enthusiasts perk up! This event allows you to pick and choose from over 25 classes including Jullian Michael’s Bodyshred 3D Xtreme, Yoga Intensive, Tabata Bootcamp, Dragon Door HKC, and Strike. Register for the courses you want to take or a full day of classes.

9. Baylor Sunny Kids Tri 

Good habits start early, right? Cheer on six to ten year olds and 11 to 15 year olds as they tackle a 100-yard swim and 1K bike ride and a 200-yard swim and 2K bike ride, respectively. All finishers will receive an award, but additional kudos will go out to some of the top finishers.

10. Foodie Run

As if it wasn’t already our incentive, this Social 5K Run ends with sangrias and Neapolitan-style pizza on the Campania’s rooftop patio. The pizza will blow you away and not just because you ran for it; it’s made in 100% Italian-made wood-burning pizza ovens and an Italian carved stone fireplace.
