5 Healthy Things to Try in Dallas in 2015

Every January I can’t wait to sit down and reevaluate the running list I keep in my phone entitled, “Resolutions”. I keep it simple and think of each item as a mantra that helps me to grow: eat more green things, keep a positive attitude, save more money, and read ingredients. This year I added plan a vacation, eat less sugar, and these five healthy things to try to my list as well:

1. Learn How to Juice:
I’ve had a stunning cold press juicer on my Amazon wish list for years now. It’s time for me to stop paying $7-$12 a bottle and make the leap. The Gem offers a “Juicing and Smoothies 101” course that covers everything from how to juice to why to juice and it provides you with a selection of recipes and a shopping list for $125.

2. Take an Aerial Yoga Class:
The mental and physical benefits of regular yoga practice are endless. This concept claims to enhance some of those benefits through the use of a fabric hammock. And let’s be honest, it just looks fun. Local studios like Yoga Up, Moxie Mischief, and  Vertical Fitness offer these courses.

3. Revamp my wardrobe:
I’ve developed a nasty habit of rotating two pairs of my favorite black leggings with whatever slouchy cut off T-shirt and stretched out sports bra is lying around. I need to up my game. The retail selection at Beyond caught my eye recently and with their mix of branded gear and pieces like these patterned Teeki tights, I’ll be more inclined to hit the gym.

4. Run More
In an attempt to embrace my weaknesses, I purchased a FitBit and plan to run a 10k this year. Worst case scenario, I get to go shopping for a new pair of running shoes. Groups like Dallas Running Club or Run On offer training and community support to help you reach your goals.

5. Book a class at Grit Fitness:
I’ve been following Dallasite Brittani Rettig’s blog for some time and I even tried her PiYo class at the W Hotel early last summer. It’s been so inspiring to watch her evolve from blogger to business owner. Classes scheduled to begin Monday, January 19.

What are you excited to try this year? Please add your goals and ideas in the comments below!
