Garland Doc Convicted of Writing Illegal Opioid Scripts. Leovares A. Mendez wrote thousands of sketchy prescriptions for painkillers. Undercover agents paid him $250 for the prescriptions. Mendez faces 140 years in prison and will be sentenced at a later date.

Nancy Grace Will Be Part of New Dr. Phil Network. One of the most irritating people in the world will have a show on Merit Street Media, which launches this month in Fort Worth. It’s called Crime Stories With Nancy Grace. The press release says she’ll offer “closure and justice to families still grappling with the pain of unresolved tragedies.”

Shaq Sponsoring Gun Buyback. Bring your heat to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Training Academy at 8401 South Polk St. Turn over a handgun for a $100 gift card and long gun for $125.
