Sandman Hotel Explosion Victim Sues For $177 Million. Karen Mayte Lopez Ontiveros, 28, said she reported to management that she smelled gas a few hours before the Sandman Hotel exploded in downtown Fort Worth. The lawsuit alleges that employees were not told to evacuate and that she was “trapped beneath the building” after the explosion.
