NBA Governors Take Up Mavericks Sale. The National Basketball Association Board of Governors began to consider the deal between Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Miriam Adelson on Wednesday. Adelson reportedly sold $2 billion of Las Vegas Sands Corp.’s shares late last month in preparation for the purchase. The family has indicated that Sands President and Chief Operating Officer Patrick Dumont (who is also Adelson’s son-in-law) would join the Board of Governors as the Mavericks representative. Cuban would become a minority owner but would continue to be in charge of baseball operations. For the sale to be approved, 75 percent of the 30 teams would need to sign off on it.

Heider’s in Charge. Former Tarrant County Elections Administrator Heider Garcia was sworn in as the new elections administrator for Dallas County on Wednesday. Garcia resigned his Tarrant County post in April after a difference in opinion with newly-elected Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare. The Dallas County Commissioners Court voted to approve his hiring in October. Dallas County is the second-largest elections department in the state.

In court documents, Paxton says the state is also investigating the hospital for violating the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices-Consumer Protection Act.
