Stars Advance! They beat the Kraken 2-1. David Castillo and Mike Piellucci break down the game over on StrongSide. If you want some schadenfreude, here’s the Seattle Times: “Midway through this final contest in front of some nervous-sounding American Airlines Center fans, it was clear the Kraken needed every ounce of remaining energy just to try to stay in a game they were badly outplayed in. The Kraken were running around in circles in their own end, relying on goalie Grubauer’s acrobatics to keep things scoreless and failing to generate any sustained offense. Finally, a giveaway late in the second period near his own blue line by defenseman Jamie Oleksiak—so solid throughout the series—enabled Roope Hintz to streak in alone down the right side and beat Grubauer with a high wrist shot to his blocker side to open the scoring.”
Coyotes Close Trail in Frisco. OK, the coyotes didn’t actually close the trail. It would be funny if coyotes showed up with barricades and shut down the trail because they were tired of people walking through their territory. So it would be more accurate to say officials closed a section of the trail on the southern part of Harold Bacchus Community Park because there had been so many coyote sightings.

Guns. The rest of the news this morning involves gun violence. A bunch of it. I try to avoid mentioning such news in Leading Off because it’s a terrible way to start the day. Seems like avoiding it, though, is getting harder by the week. Take care of each other out there.
