Heated Meeting at Frisco ISD. A transgender student from another district claims that a Frisco trustee, Marvin Lowe, made the student feel “dehumanized, violated, and unsafe” at a conference last fall. At a public meeting yesterday to discuss the matter, some called for Lowe to resign, while others voiced their support for him.
2G.Kaash Arrested on Murder Charge. The rapper, whose legal name is Ghazi Harris, was arrested at a hip-hop show in Grand Prairie in connection with a killing that happened in January. 2G.Kaash had recently signed a record deal with Atlantic Records and Sniper Gang Records, and this is the second murder charge he has faced. In the first, a grand jury declined to indict him.
Private Contractor Takes Over Foster Care in North Texas. Child Protective Services will soon hand over control to a child-welfare collaborative called EMPOWER. The contractor will manage the cases of foster kids in Dallas, Collin, and seven other counties starting this fall. A commissioner of the state agency that oversees CPS calls the change “a quantum leap for the community-based foster care model in our state.”
Bullets Fly From Plano Short-Term Rental. Neighbors are up in arms after gunfire erupted at a party at a short-term rental near Legacy Drive and Custer Road. One stray bullet went through a window of a room where a child was sleeping.
