North Texas Giving Day Is Today, So Help Set a Record

Last year, the $37 million raised was more than any other city has generated during their (lesser) giving days. Help break that record.

As Christiana noted in this morning’s Leading Off, the North Texas Giving Day formally launched at midnight. And in those 10 or so hours since, the Communities Foundation of Texas has logged almost 42,000 gifts—and counting!— worth just over $14 million. At 6 a.m., there was already $4 million in the coffers, the result of the first-ever week of scheduled giving.

You know how this works: Head to this website, find an organization, throw some money its way. Then watch it ascend on the leaderboard! Last year, the Communities Foundation was hoping to get to $26 million. That turned out to be a lowball goal. North Texans gave $37.3 million to 2,518 nonprofits via 142,887 gifts. It was a national record, and it must be overtaken. The goal this year isn’t even a number—the goal is to beat last year.

Let’s take a look at the thousands of organizations you can give to. Just a snapshot. Maybe you’re interested in helping an organization fighting food shortages in the city. Bonton Farms is here for you, and the BraBurner ladies paid them a visit for the podcast earlier this week. In that same lane, there’s also the North Texas Food Bank. Maybe you want to help some animals. Oh, look! There’s the SPCA of Texas and the Humane Society and the more specialized Golden Retriever Rescue of North Texas. Perhaps you like hearing our Tim Rogers brag about his alma mater, Cistercian Prep. Or maybe you’d rather see Trinity Christian Academy make up the $35,000 that it currently trails Cistercian. Your call!

Just give. You’ve got until midnight. (Recurring disclosure: Tim’s wife, Christine Rogers, does PR for the North Texas Giving Day.)
