Watch Four Day Weekend’s Madcap Dash Through Sundance Square

The comedy troupe celebrated 20 years with a big bash at Bass Hall last week. Here's how they got there.

In D Magazine’s March issue, I wrote about the Fort Worth improv troupe Four Day Weekend—and my experience working with the screwball dudes—to coincide with their 20th anniversary. Last Thursday, the guys celebrated the landmark year by taking their talents across Sundance Square from their classy 212-seat theater to the grand Bass Concert Hall. The evening was magical enough to make me cry three times and hilarious enough that my entire face hurt from laughing so hard.

Among the highlights of the evening were Josh Robert’s satirical version of The Phantom of the Opera theme song (dude’s got pipes!) and a bit called “Forward and Reverse” (the best proof of their comedic genius I’ve ever witnessed), both of which you can read about in Punch Shaw’s detailed recap here. They also put together an awesome intro video for the event featuring Fort Worth mayor Betsy Price, former mayor Mike Moncrief, and billionaire Ed Bass himself. Watch the clip below.

One more note: For anyone who read my story and wondered about my shining YouTube moment (I get pushed out of a car), here you go. As you can see, their production quality has improved quite a bit. My acting never did.

Congrats on 20 years, Four Day. You guys deserve every bit of your success.
