Preston Hollow artist and 9th greatest Dallasite of all time George W. Bush sat down with NBC’s Matt Lauer today to hawk his new book, Portraits of Courage, a collection of oil paintings of military veterans sent to war by the decisions of the 43rd president.

Bush also held forth on the value of a free press (“indispensable to democracy”), the potential of Russian involvement in the 2016 U.S. presidential election (“we all need answers”), and President Trump’s controversial immigration policy (“I am for an immigration policy that is welcoming and upholds the law.”)

Proceeds from Portraits of Courage, which is out Tuesday, will be donated to the George W. Bush Presidential Center at SMU and its Military Service Initiative. Each portrait in the book is accompanied by a veteran’s story, as written by Bush. The author will be at the Barnes & Noble on Northwest Highway on March 4 to sign copies and shake hands.
