In today's tremendous news: Dallas to get Trump hotel, Texas' first transgender mayor, and a local company wins a half billion in Facebook lawsuit.

Trump Hotel Coming to Downtown Dallas. The Trump Organization is currently in talks with developer Mike Sarimsakci to build a hotel geared toward the young professional crowd in downtown Dallas, just a stone’s throw from city hall. Sarimsakci told the DMN that the Trump Organization wants to “roll this out pretty aggressively.” For anyone currently hash tagging #resist, you’ll at least be glad to know that the hotel won’t have the Trump name on it; the development is part of a new chain of 4-star hotels under the Trump umbrella called Scion Hotels. This story shows you exactly where it will be.

Jess Herbst, Texas’ First Transgender Mayor. I really can’t think of a better name for the town that would embrace our state’s first transgender mayor than New Hope. Back in May, Herbst was still known by the name Jeff and was an alderman in the McKinney suburb when the mayor died suddenly of a heart attack. Jeff took the mayoral reins and has since transitioned, recently writing an open letter to residents to be reintroduced as Jess. She says residents have been “amazing.

Plano Child Survives Abuse and Fire. Authorities believe that a Plano apartment fire on Monday was started by a mother, perhaps mentally disturbed, who wanted to cover up the abuse of her 5-year-old-son. The mother died in the hospital; the boy is in critical condition with burns, a slash and ligature marks on his neck, and a fractured skull. Prayers, little man, prayers.

Richardson-based Virtual Reality Company Awarded $500 Million in Copyright Infringement Lawsuit Against Facebook. The lawsuit was the reason Zuckerberg was in town a couple weeks ago, and it’s also slightly more complicated than a few sentences will allow (for example, it’s actually ZeniMax, which owns the Richardson-based company, that won the suit), so I suggest you read this story or wait for HBO’s Silicon Valley to create a storyline based on it.

Also, a Shoutout… To Plano-based JCPenney for its social media response to Queen Bey’s pregnancy announcement.
