Violent Crimes Were up in Dallas in 2016. Interim Police Chief David Pughes dropped the numbers in a year-end crime report for the public safety committee. The news isn’t good. Homicides rose 26 percent from 2015 to 2016, and overall violent crime went up 11 percent. Meanwhile the police force is down to 3,200 officers, short of the desired 3,500.
ExxonMobil Did Business With Iran. USA Today reports that while the energy company was being led by Rex Tillerson, Donald Trump’s nominee for secretary of state, it did business through a European subsidiary with Iran, Syria, and Sudan, which were under sanctions as state sponsors of terrorism. Seems like Tillerson should expect some questions about this tomorrow at his confirmation hearing.
