Cowboys Lose to Houston. The Texans came out on top in both teams’ final preseason tuneup, by a score of 28-17. Dallas isn’t likely sweating the defeat, considering they played third-string quarterback Jameill Showers rather than Dak Prescott, the likely starter when real games start against the New York Giants on September 11.

Tarrant County to Refund Millions in Taxes. An error in a software upgrade earlier this year led to about 5,000 property tax accounts being overcharged. The county’s tax office will be writing and sending out checks totaling more than $12 million.

Teacher’s Aide Charged With Sexual Assault. Jessica-Jewel Corin Benton, 26, reportedly told investigators she’d had sexual encounters with an 11-year-old for months. Benton works at Mesquite ISD’s Tisinger Elementary, but the victim attends a different school in the district.

Couple “Coached” Children in Sex. It’s awful what Jose Ramos and his wife Annetta allegedly did to a young boy and girl over several years. It’s inexcusable that they admitted some of their crimes to a Fort Worth detective two years ago but weren’t arrested until this week.
